Hi Everyone. My Mom and Dad thought it would be a good idea to set up a little blog so you could keep up with how I am doing. That way Mom and Dad won't have to try and call everyone or answer the phone all the time. That's fine with me!
My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, June 19th at the Children's Heart Center at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. I have to go there for several hours on Monday, June 18th for preop tests. They told my Mom and Dad to plan on me staying in the hospital anywhere from 5 to 10 days. Not fun!
My Dad has set this blog up so you can send me (and them) messages- that would be really nice! I really want to hear from my friends and family. I wish my dogs Patches and Figaro and my cats Tara and Zelda could send me messages too. One of my favorite babysitters (Emily) is going to take care of them.
That's all for now- Hope to hear from you and will make sure my Mom and Dad let you know how I am doing.
Love, Alia

Hi ALia! We are all thinking about you and your family as your surgery draws near. We know how stressful a time like this is, but we also know that doctors these days are great miracle workers and guardian angels. We'll miss you at the barn, but Allie will pass along your hugs to all of the horses. All the best - Bill, Wendy, Allie and Jack Wellener

Hi Alia. I hope you have a great week of school before summer vacation.
We've had quite a busy week at our house, as our son Jordan was married yesterday. Steve performed the beautiful ceremony down at First Baptist. All of the girls and guys looked so nice. And everything happened just as scheduled.
Megan was in town for all the wedding fun, and I told her about your upcoming surgery. You are special to her (sharing the same birthday and all), as you are to the rest of us.
We will all be thinking of you and saying prayers for your speedy recovery.
You will get lots of good care in the hospital.
Give our love to your Mom and Dad. Love, Barbara Booth
Mark, Julie and Alia,

Alia,
We wanted to let you and your family know that we will keep you in our prayers everyday. I can understand how this may be scary as I had major back surgery when I was just a little girl. God is so wonderful and good...he will take care of you. Pray to him to help you to not feel nervous and he will surely calm you. When all of this is over and you are well, you will have a wonderful opportunity to help others who may have to go through surgeries at a young age. There are so many friends who are praying for you and thinking of you and your parents. God is your strength, always. :)
P.S. We loved your photo with your horse...So beautiful!!!

Hi Alia -
Even though I haven't seen you in so long, I remember a little girl running around my parents house with complete confidence and a great zest for life (and cookies!). You will come through this with flying colors and be back on your horse, better than ever, in no time!
All the Reeds are rooting for you!
Much love,
Jennifer Reed
Alia,
We miss seeing you since we started going to the new JRC service on Sundays! I will tell Tiffany about your surgery and I know she will keep you in her prayers. We love you and will pray for a speedy recovery!
Rebecca, Brent and Tiffany Jones
Alia,
Brittany says hi and she wants to come see you -- maybe she can even babysit some while you are recovering! Our Boswell family is praying for you each and every night. Know that God is with you, and many prayers are with you too! I hope you feel very loved by all the family and friends you have! You are a special girl and your parents are terrific too!
We will check on you soon...
Kim, Tim, Brittany, Madison and Braydon :)
Hi Alia,
I know you are excited that school will end soon but not so excited that you will have to have surgery and be away from home for awhile.
I bet your pets will be so excited when they see you again, with they tails wagging. I know God and his angels will be with you and your mom and dad. I will pray for you and your family. Look forward to seeing you in the neighborhood and at church.

Good morning Alia!
Well wishes from Montana.
You will be just fine; I know it. With Julie as your mother, there is no other way.
You'll have to come and visit us one day. We have a herd of buffalo just up the road, plenty of fishing, hiking and camping.
Hang in there. My family will keep you in our prayers.
Tell your mom and dad hello for me.
Cousin Nancy and family in Montana
Hi Alia:
Wishing you a speedy recovery this summer! Tell your parents to call if you or they need anything at all.
Daid, Marie, Holden and Jessica
Hi Alia!
You do not know me, but I do know your dad and mom quite well and have been following you as you grow up from the stories and pictures that your dad shares with me. I think you are a very courageous little girl! I wish you speedy recovery and through this blog I will follow your recuperation. There a lot of people who pray for you and I am certain that you will be well and running in no time at all. God bless you!
A library friend Mary D.
Hi Alia, I just wanted you to know you, your mom and dad are in my prayers and I wish for you a very speedy recovery. I'll be reading your blog to see how you're doing.
With love from Georgia,

Hey Sugarplum,
As you get ready for this surgery, you know that Unkin Jack and I will be praying for a speedy recovery. I'll be up to visit as soon as I can so we can go and get our toenails painted! We love you SO much!
Hugs and kisses from your favorite aunt,
Aunt Beth
Hi Alia-
My mom is typing this for me because I've never blogged before. I've never met you...but my mom and dad met you when you were a little girl like me. I'm Brennan Joy and I live in Mississippi. My mom and dad lived in Virginia before I was born.
Will you have a scar like Madeline when she had her appendix removed? My aunt Donna and PopPop will have scars when they have their surgeries, too.
I will say prayers for you at night before I go to sleep. I want to meet you and pet your horse.
Get well soon! Love- Brennan Joy Hight (and Stacey, Terry, Charlie and Robbie)
Hi Alia,
I forget how late you get out of school from us.
Just wanted you to know we're thinking of you and Julie and Mark. I'll check your progress daily and let Grandaddy and Aunt Beth know how your doing since they're not around a computer to find out. But tell Julie too bad Aunt Carol said she'll call anyway.
Take care, I know it'll take time to recover but I have a feeling your parents are going to have a time trying to calm you down.
Hey Alia!
I just read through your blog and will check back after your surgery! You sure packed in the activities before the big day. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and tell your dad that we'll hold down the fort at the Library of Virginia!
Be well,
Amy Winegardner
Hi Alia,
I'm so sorry that your surgery has to be postponed....I know you and Mom and Dad were eager to get on with it but I guess those babies are very sick and need the attention of all the doctors and nurses. Try to be patient and enjoy the next few days....I hope they pass quickly.Tell your Dad that you really need to get back to the stable and say another good-bye to the horses!
I'll keep all three of you in my prayers.
Martha Singdahlsen
Dear Alia --
I can feel just how sad, mad and upset you were because your surgery date changed. Those were just the right feelings to have, too.
Mr. Coble, Corrie and I (Ms. Mallory) will keep you in our hearts and prayers.
With blessings and love,
Ms. Mallory
P.S. Your parents are brilliant! Your blog is a great idea for keeping all of us who love and care for you informed.
Hi Alia,
This is Lauren and David Ellenberger. It might take you a minute to remember us, but we are friends with your parents and with Uli and Felix. Do you remember playing outside at our wedding 2 years ago with our nieces Alauren and Madelyn while your daddy took lots of pictures? :) We just wanted to send some smiles your way! I know it's frustrating when plans change like that! We'll be thinking about you and Mom and Dad next week. Hope to see you this summer!
- Lauren and David
Hi Alia,
I don't know if you remember me but I am one of your Aunt Beth's friends. (You may remeber coming to my house to swim a few years back) Your Aunt Beth always keeps me up on how you are and has told me about your surgery. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I am praying that your surgery goes smoothly and you can come back and visit me real soon! I'll make you that special popcorn you like so well! Take care.
Hugs and kisses,
Ms Annette
How much we have been thinking and praying for all the family. Just reading about your progress makes us very happy! In no time you will be up and at 'em! We look forward to reading all the good reports that will come on your blog. Know that we will continue to pray for all of you and that we send love to you, Gene and Wanda
Hi Alia, Julie and Mark....
I've been at Jeffrey's house in D.C. since Friday morning and didn't realize that I wouldn't be able to access my "Favorites" list from their computer. Your blog is listed on my "Favorites" so I haven't been able to check on all of you and especially to find out how the surgery went.I just got back to Richmond and am so relieved to see that you are doing fantastically well....how wonderful. Even though I couldn't read your blog, I have continued to
pray for you and I got my granddaughters to pray for you too.
I hope you continue to heal and that you'll be back home very soon.
Martha Singdahlsen
Dear Alia,
Jim, Claire, Chet and I have been praying for you and asking God to help you get back on your feet quickly. Our prayers were answered when we visited your blog to see that you have already been up walking around the hospital. Now that you are up and about, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We have not created out own blog on Google, but we will continue to write to you. Please touch your index finger to your face and your mom and dad's faces to let them know we're sending a kiss to them too.
We'd ask you to give them a hug, but we know it would probably hurt too much.
Sue, Jim, Claire and Chet Bland
